I have been having a problem with another local haunt ripping down my fliers and replacing them with his own. Is there any legal way to stop him? I've tried talking to him but he is NOT a true haunter...believe me!! :x

Didn't this happen with some election signs a while back? ::sigh::

Ok, I don't know what you can do legally. Maybe if you do what the candidate who's signs were being ripped down did. He caught the other guy on video and that did the trick.

I assume you are posting these outside on utility poles and such? If so how about asking businesses for permission to put your flier in their window (especially if you run a charity haunt). He'll be hard pressed to rip those down. My strategy would be to take this as a challenge and try to ramp up new and more creative ways to market my haunt. If you have a friend that owns a business on a busy street or intersection see if you can put a live character at the location with a sign advertising.

Best of luck!
Marsha

Not really too much you can do about it. Video taping might be a good idea. I think it would be a major headache to take legal action on something that small.

I agree with jekyllandhyde, get creative. Post in shop windows, if you have the funds, rent a small billboard, set up at Fairs. Where I live, nearly all Halloween stores will let you stand outside and hand out fliers (just don't scare the kids). Sometime they give me store fliers and candy to hand out, small price to pay for free advertisement.

Good luck. I hope this helps.

Love the video idea. Should I forewarn him somehow?

Some states require you to forwarn the person that will be on video. Check your state laws. I think Marsha is correct on this. The local shops have been fantastic about helping out with putting a flyer in the window, some even said bring some flyers inside and set them on our register counter.
